The Pilates method we know today started with one man’s determination to transform his health.
Born in 1883 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, Joseph Pilates was a frail child, struggling with asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever. Instead of letting illness define him, he turned to gymnastics, bodybuilding, and martial arts—inspired by his father—to rebuild his strength and resilience.

His dedication not only restored his own health but also laid the foundations for a movement method that continues to help people worldwide move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives.
📌 I’ve put together a handy infographic highlighting the key milestones of Joseph Pilates’ life—perfect for saving, sharing, and tagging a fellow #Pilates enthusiast!
